YM’S Caledonian side wound up their pre season with two tough friendlies. In midweek they came from two goals down against an EKFC Reserve x1 to draw 3-3. EKFC had taken a two goal lead early in the game but Mikey Carroll closed down the keeper very quickly allowing Ross McDonagh a tap in but early in the second half EKFC restored their two goal advantage with a superb 20yard volley. Craig Tocher outstripped the defence to pull one back for YM and in the closing stages Ross McDonagh equalised from the penalty spot. On Saturday YM were left to rue missed early chances as they lost 4-2 to a very good Harestanes side. For long spells the sides matched each other with Harestanes twice taking the lead but on both occasions YM equalised through David Kneale and Ross McDonagh both scoring from the penalty spot.
Late in the game Harestanes experience showed and their pressure told with two late goals. This Saturday YM start their League Cup campaign against Stenhousemuir Community at Hamilton Palace kick off 1pm with manager Graeme Robertson hoping for a full squad availability .
YM’S GGPL side defeated Glenburn 2-0 in the Barrhead Tournament on Friday evening with Josh Cairns scoring twice but lost 3-2 in the final on Sunday to Barrhead Arkleston in a terrific match. Scorers were Scott Forrie and Jack Ferguson.
