A 12th win in 12 Caledonian League matches secured promotion for East Kilbride YM on Saturday.
The runaway Division 1B leaders were twice pegged back at home to Dunblane, but netted twice in the final 10 minutes to ensure Premier League football next season.
YM did so with four games to spare and only St Mungo’s, who have played four games less, can catch them. And YM will have the chance to wrap up the title when the sides meet in the coming weeks.
James Cameron, Michael Carroll, Jordan Calder and Ross McDonagh were all on target as YM took their league goals tally to 82.
The fixture was moved to the Toryglen Indoor Centre to beat the frozen outside pitches and both sides served up a good match.
YM’s early dominance was hampered by an inability to capitalise on their fine build up play and Dunblane always looked threatening on the break.
Just after the half hour mark David Cameron won possession in midfield before finding Jordan Fletcher wide left. He made tracks along the left wing and put Ross McDonagh through and he unselfishly squared the ball across for James Cameron to net from close range.
Dunblane started the second half brightly, equalising five minutes after the restart. Midfielder McLaren sent a good through ball for centre forward MacDonald to latch on to and he fired the ball past Fraser Campbell in the YM goal.
YM were rattled by this equaliser and took some time to find their feet again.
Livewire Michael Carroll looked to have settled the nerves by closing down keeper Jackson and the keepers attempted clearance spun off the YM striker into the net.
But Dunblane showed tenacity and they were soon back on level terms when MacDonald scored his second goal with a fine finish from inside the area.
YM built up a stream of attacks and were eventually rewarded with two goals in the final ten minutes.
Man of the match Jordan Fletcher swung a free kick to the far post where central defender Jordan Calder headed into the net.
