YM clinched the league championship with a convincing victory. Rothesay proved difficult to break down early on but three goals in as many minutes just before the half hour mark settled the outcome.
Cammy McCulloch started the celebrations when he cut in from wide left and fired a ferocious right foot shot from the edge of the box high past the keeper.
A minute later Connor McCann latched on to a through ball from David Cameron and shot low past the advancing keeper to double the lead, then David Cameron wanted in on the act and sent an 18 yard shot high into the net to end the match as a contest.
In the second half James Cameron put Mikey Carroll through to score number four, then Anthony Penman sent a good cross into the path of Jordan Fletcher to score the fifth and Carroll added a sixth from the penalty spot after Craig Kincaid had been brought down before David Cameron scored number seven from close range which was also YM’s 100th league goal this season.
SAFA vice President Iain Cowden and Caledonian League vice President Douglas McMillan were in attendance to present the Championship trophy to Liam Sloan and Scott Cairns at full time and the party began.
